DESCRIPTION
TESTOSTERONE is a steroid compound that is described chemically as Delta 4-androstene-17ß- 01-3-one. It is the principal hormone of the testis. The ester, Propionate, is a stable, white or slightly yellow crystalline substance that is insoluble in water but freely soluble in alcohol, ether, acetone, vegetable oils, and other organic solvents. Esterification of the 17 betahydroxy group produces compounds which have a longer duration of action and are hydrolyzed in vivo to free testosterone.
